CYCLING.
A meeting of the Christchurch Bicycle Club was held at the Central Hotel last evening. There was a good attendance of members. The report of the Secretary was presented (showing a small balance as the. result of the last evening race meeting) and adopted. It was resolved—That a long distance race be run under the auspices of the Club, about 100 miles, the first prize to be JES 53, second £3 3s, third £1 Is, to take place a few days after the annual races of the combined Clubs. Mr J. Wallace gave the second prize.
The usual monthly meeting of the Pioneer Bicycle Club was held at headquarters last night. There was an unusually large attendance. Three new members were elected, making the total number on the roll fifty-one. It was agreed to have the much-needed Clubroom decided on and furnished immediately. This is expected to add considerably to the Club's status. Some routine business connected with the forthcoming races to be held on the 24th inst. was transacted, and several accounts were passed for passed for payment, after which the meeting adjourned.
