ASSOCIATION.
A general meeting of the Council of this Association was held at the Boad Board office, Rangiora, on Monday afternoon. There were thirty-two present, Mr P. C Threikeld, President, in the chair. Apologies for non-attendance were read from Messrs K. L. Higgins, M. McFarlane, aad C. Q. King. A protest by Mr Eowe aga : net the decision of the judges for pigs in class 7 was considered and not allowed. A protest against the owner of a fat heifer not having been bred by exhibitor nw not gone into, as the animal in question had not been ehown. A protest was made by Mr J. Wyllie in class 23 for 1 gat horseo which was disallowed. Mr W. Buss, Secretary of the Association, said that the Council had met as usual afcer the show not to hear of a balance in its favor being read, but to be informed that owing to the adverse state of the weather the Society was in debt. They would remem- | ber that there was an overdraft of i>l6, and he found that now, to pay all the J prizes, the Society would be .£6l 3s 8d in debt. However, if the amount of subecriptions in arrears "were paid there was only a deficit of .£2O, which might easily be met. [Cheers/] Some of the prize-takera, anticipating a worse state of affairs, had offered to give over all their prizes, and others had offered half. His idea was that they ought to pay all prizes to those exhibitors, who at great expense and risk of their stock, had exhibited at the late show—[cheers]—and trust to the results to p*y the balance and clear the Association. He regretted that the weather had been so bad for the show, a3 without doubt the opinion of all persona was that, under fine weather, the late show would have been the best ever held in the Northern district. The Hon. H. B. Gbmbos suggested that a future meeting should be held. It was decided that all foizee should be paid. * . Mr H..-• Buicbstt recommended the formation of a reeerve fund to meet similar seasons to the last. Mr A. Itobt stated that in the oompe-. tition for hie prize for cobs the judges had by some means given the prize for a carriage horze.
