worthily filled in c*_nec_on with the above Society. He leave* a widow aad a farafly of aux sons aad three daughtere, -U of whom, except the three youngest sons, are married. At Raugiora, on" Saturday _sth ult, there waa a large aaaembhwe to follow the remains of the late Mr John McFarlane, of Coldstream, to their last resting place in the Presbyterian cemetery. About fifty ?e_iclaa followed, aad at least 200 gentlemen were present. Tbe funeral service was conducted by tie Bey. W. Elmslie. The coffin was borne to the grave by Messrs J. Tinline, J. Anderson, J. P. Jameson, S. Garfbrth, W. D. Wood, W. C. NichoUs, E. S. Harley, and Beginald j Foster, and before being lowered in the grave wan covered with wreaths and floral decorations. It may be remarked that Mr Tinline waa one of the first to meet the deceased gentleman on bis landing in . Wellington forty-two years ago, and that they Uved together in a whare for some time, and be was on this occasion one of the first bearers of the corpse who reached the grave. Some of the storekeepers in tbe borough of Bangiora, although the cortege did not pass through the town, closed their respective business establishments.
