MR PILLIETS COAL MERCHANT.
TO THE KDIT-B OF THB PBXBS. Sib, —I really feel sincerely sorry for Mr Dorney. Whem two years ago I was being tried, condemned and executed, without being beard, and in my absence Mr Derney, in what I thought at tbe time was a burst of generosity, unprompted by an immediate desire to borrow money from mc. and for which I thanked him, came to the fore and took my part. Now, however, he finds that among some of ttiose whose votes lie expects to get, that championship of mc does not pay, and he is trying to set out ot it tbe best way he can. Mr Dorney knows well that I do not dispute haying conversations with him—in fact, he has come to my house very frequently daring the last two years, and feathered mc more than I can express, yet withont any flnancfal results, but what I do emphatically deny, notwithstanding his " respectable residents," is that he ever used to mc the words lie alleges, or any of their import. Any man who dared do so would leave my house—probably in light marching order. Nor would I have any further dealings with him either in coal or otherwise. It has taken Mr Dorney a long time to concoct his answer to my letter. Tours, &c, Walteb H. Pjlljet.
