LOSS OF THE SCHOONER FALCON.
IFBBSS ASSOCIATION TBLEOHAM.j PATEA, February 87. A most extraordinary occurrence took place at port this morning. The echooner Falcon came down the river to ta'satii bar. There was a strong breeze from the north-west and heavy sea. The Falcon h»4 her mainsail and inner jib set, and vk« opposite the breakwater the sea lifted hebow right on to it. The crew jumped ashore, and in a little while the tide ooa- : menced to ebb, the veeael slowed and went out stern first. She turned luff I round again, and then went out over the 1 bar in splendid style, without a seul o& ' board. The sails were well balanced, tuti she kept close to the wind, heading in tilt direction of Blind Bay. For hours slit was watched, and appeared to be making good way against a heavy gale and 8«, i She was owned by Captain Leslie, btr| master, and was uninsured. . |;
A later telegram says that the F*loot|jp was observed to founder about 1.30 p.m, seven miles from the shore.
