Dbpnxenness.—Chas. Cooper, for being drunk and using obscene language in a public place, was fined 10s. For first offences two men and a woman were each fined ss; all with the usual alternatives in default of payment.
Vagrancy.—Timothy Sullivan pleaded guilty to soliciting alms. He had visited a provision Shop in Manchester street three times on Thursday. He asked for some' bacon, and tried to take away Some eggs; he also wanted some drink, and on being refused he made, use of some very bad language. He then went to another place, where he, behaved in a similar manner. He now pleaded that it being Christmas time he had got drunk, and did not know what he was doing. He said he had come from up country with a cheque, and had plenty of money left. He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor.
