Received December 2nd; 10.30 a.m. PARIS, November 29. The Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, voted the sum of nine million francs-to cover the expenses-of ti__- French expedition to Tonquin. The Marquis Tseng, Chinese Ambassador,, who- has been in this city some days for the? purpose of carrying on negotiations with, the French Government, will shortly return to England.. Received December 2nd, 10.30-aan. PARIS, November 30 A serious accident occurred to-day on the railway line near Mbntfort, Brittany. Eighteen lives have been lost by the disaster, and fifteen passengers have been Buffering from serious injuries. The Government has- decided to send reinforcements to De- Braaaa, who is engaged in forming French trading stations in the Congo. Beeeived December 3rd, 1.30 aon. LONDON, November 29. The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is -.13,000,000, being an. increase of jE3OOjOOO-during the week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities remains at 43 per cent. The Bank rate of discount is unchanged at 3 per cent, and the market rate at 2 per cent. Consols re-tain at lOlf. New Zealand securities remain as follows:—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 105; Five per Cent., 1889 Loan, 104 j Four and a-Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, lOlf j Four per Cent. Inscribed Stock, 100.. Australian hides are in less demand, and prices are _d lower. At to-day's wool sale 8300 bales were offered. The tone of the sale was firm. It is expected that the French Chamber of Deputies will approve of the amendments made by the Senate in the E ccc. divistes Bill, and that it will consequently become law. The Agents-General have been bringing additional pressure to bear on Lord Derby in endeavor to enlist the approval of the Government to the annexation scheme. Attention having been called to the fact the dates of the South Kensington and Adelaide Exhibitions will clash. H.B.H. the Prince of Wales has replied that the arrangements for the former having been settled, he is now unable to make any . alterations in regard to them. The Bank of South Australia has determined to apply to Parliament to extend its ' Charter to all Australasia. LONDON, November 30. The "Times" advises that the surrender of Mossowah should be offered to Abyssinia on condition of that power checking El Mahdi's career in the Soudan. Prince Bismarck is seriously ill with jaundice.
