WELLINGTON SPRING MEETING.

[panes arsociation -_,_a_AW.] WELLINGTON, November 30. The Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting was held on the Hutt racecourse to-day. The weather was dull an<X threatening. About 800 were present. The course was in splendid condition, and a good day's sport was had. The following are the results :— Railway Stakes Handicap, 50 bovb; one and quarter mUes. Mr Owens' Sir George, Bst lUb (Derritt) t Mr Tancred's Administrator, 7st 51b f (Gravestock) z Mr Chitham's Dan, 7st 111b ... (Kaiser) _ The Poet was scratched. The start was a wretched one. Sir George having aU the best of it, led the field at the turn by fully six lengths. At the back of the course Administrator improved his position, while Dan was stiU eight lengths away. When crossing the road at the top of the course, Kaiser caUed on his mount, _ad tho colt answering, challenged Sir George. A splendid race ensued down the straight, both jockeys whipping hard. Sir George, however, could not be shaken off, and the rtsult was a dead heat, Dan a bad third. The owners of Sir George and Administrator agreed to divide the stakes, and Sir George cantered round the course. Time, 2min 30i?ee. The totalisator paid on both horses, the dividend being en Sir George £1 7s, Administrator £1 13s. Hurdles, 50 soys. Two mUes and a half. Mr McCoU's Orient, list (H. Alexander) 1 Mr Dodson's Bob, lOst ( . Cheeseman) 2 Mr Robinson's LiabUity, lOst 121b (Herd) S Mountain Deer also ran. Orient and LiabUity were equal favorites. Orient led at the Btart, and the first three hurdles were safely taken by aU the horses. At the fourth Mountain Deer baulked, and lost all chance. A. splendid race ensued between Liability and Orient, but in taking the last hurdle the former ran off, and before he could be brought back Bob had taken second place, and Orient won as he liked. Towards the back of the course Poet came up, and Miss Juan chaUenged Odd Trick. Entering the straight Datt waa lying fourth, but The Poet answered to the caU given him and won by a length, Odd Trick a good Second, with Miss Juan close on his quarters. The other horses Were nowhere. Totalisator dividend £3 7s. The owner of Sir George laid a protect against The Poet on the the ground that he crossed Dan and Sir George. After dasconsideration the Stewards disallowed the Srotest and. gave the stake, to The Poet, everal of the jockeys allege that both Odd Trick and Mies Juan went inside the posts. The Hack Race.
