Favored with the finest day of aU the year, the managers of these popular races were also fortunate in having a very large attendance at the course, in spite of the tact that, though St. Andrew's is not a general hoßday, the pubUc of the district were determined that the races should be kept up as enthusiastically as tfcey have always been. Chester led and took the jumps freely aU the way, winning with three I lengths to spare. Clansman and Penrose kept weU together, Nikau bringing up the rear all the way. On coming into the straight Mor ran off the course, but came back inside the flags. She passed the rails a length in advance of Helena, with Zillah third. At the back Lady Mary made a show in the running, but was never in the race. Mor won by four lengths, Cheater third. Time, 2min Ssecs. Totalisator 105 ; on winner 24; dividend, £3 18s. McClure's eh m Lady Dag worth, 4 yrs, Bst9lb (Thomson) 0 A fair start was effected, Whitbach taking up the running, Contessa second. At the rails the latter came to the front, with Lady. Dagworth next. Going along the back, Psyche was let out for a bit. but gave way for Whitbach, and in this order they raced in, with Contessa third. Time, 2min 52secs. Totalisator .£126, on winner 44, dividend, £2 11b. Handicap Teotting Race (Open), 20 soys. Distance, three mUes. Time start. Weight not less than 10st. The second horse to save his stake. Mr G. Winsloe's eh m Mischief, aged, scratch (Reeves) 1 Mr J. Hick's b m Moonlight (J. Hicks) 2 Mr Brown's Creeping Kate, 6 yra, 40 sees. (Brown), and Mr J. Harper's g m DoUy, aged, 45secs. (Harper) also ran. Dolly broke and feU out, Mischief gained lOsecs. the first time round, and won easily with Moonlight ten lengths second. Time, 9min. 4g_.ee. Totalisat jr 64 jon winner 32; dividend £1 16s. Farmers' Platb, 25 soys. Distance, one and a-half mUes. Weight for age. The second horse to receive £5 out of the stake. Mr T. Sheenan's eh m Psyche, 6 yrs, 9st (J. Walls) 1 Mr M. Duncan's b m Mor, 4 yrs, Bst 91b (T. Murfit) 2 Mr J. Evans' b m Maid of Honor, 9st lib (Parker) 0 Mr G. After a false start tiie lot got away on even terms, Lady Dagworth with a lead she could not hold. In the first half mile Psyche came on and won hands down, Mor and Maid of Honor doing a spin to themselves, ending in favor of the former, who. was three lengths behind the leader. Time, 2min 52sec. Totalisator, 124; on winner, 81; dividend, £1 7s. Disteict Hack Selling Race, 15 soys. For horses that have never won any pubUc money. Post entry,-os. Catch weights. Distance, one mile. Winner to be sold immediately after the race for _fi 15; any surplus to go to the Club's funds. Mr A. Lee's br m Jenny Lind 1 Mr W. Lynskey _ Blackbird 2 Jess, Humming Bird, Biddy, Peter, Chariie, Thomas also ran. This was a very good race, and the winner was sold to Mr Pimm for £20. Totalisator, 58 ; on winner, 5 : dividend, __o__. Ladies' Pd_s« Handicap, 30 soys. Distance, two miles. Second horse to receive £5 out of the stake. Mr F. Buech's b m Spec, 7st 31b 1 Mr T. Sheenan's Psyche 2 Mr Lund's Whitbach ... 0 Mr McLean's Clansman ... 0 This formed one of the best races of the day. Clansman went first away, with Psyche held. At the half-mile Psyche and Spec were the leaders, and going round to the back ran a very close match, Whitbach doing his utmost to keep the pace. In the straight it was seen that Spec could treat Psyche aa she liked, and won with two lengths, the result being received with cheering. Time, 3min 52sec. Totalisator, 115; on winner, 41; dividend, £2 10 a. A Consolation Race of 10 soys f,r all beaten horses concluded the meeting.
