Be?ent telegrams from Cannes state that Gladstone's health has been benefited by his visit to South France, and it continues to improve. The latest intelligence from Hamburg reports that only sixty-seven of the Cimbria's passengers have yet reached land. No further information has been obtained regarding the remaining 423 persons who were on board at the time the vessel sank.' It is reported that the Prince of Wales will visit Canada in March. The French Government have addressed a communication to the Great Powers on the subject of the circular of the English Government explaining its intentions with regard to Egypt. The French Government protests against the proposals of England, but the protest is couched in moderate terms. BERLIN, January 21. The death is announced to-day of Prince Frederick Charles, the brother of the Emperor William. He was born in 1801. NEW YOBK, January 21. Intelligence is to hand of a serious railway accident on the overland line between San Francisco and Omaha. A train bound for the former place slipped while ascending a steep gradient, and rolled over the embankment. The engine and all the carriages were shattered' to pieces. Falliers has proposed a Bill giving President Grevy power to expel the Bonaparte or Orleanist Princes who may menace the safety of the Eepublic, and to compel their retirement from the army. The Bill was read with uproar, and has been referred to a Committee. General Todleben is reported to be seriously ill. King of the Belgians has recovered from his late indisposition. It is reported that the Duke of Edinburgh has agreed to accept a million sterling for the surrender of his claims on the Duchy of Saie Coburg The Cape Ministry propose only to control the external political relations of the Basutot.
