H. Cunningias, at Rangiora; and A. Chnmingham, SpriogSeld, had consented to act as honorary agents of the society for their districts. - _. On the motion of the Bey. T. ITaveH, it ' was resolved that the name of Mrs J . T. Jfotsoa be added to the ladies' committee. The Secretary read extracts fromtfie reports of the inspector with regard to «ows biing brought into sale yards with overstocked udders, thas causing great pain to the animals. He ■• tbonght something ourfit to be done in this matter. MrMTkurphy asked how it..was that a case of gross cruelty -in Armagh street had not .been brought forward at the Court.. v. The Secretary stated thafe the matter •was is the hands of the police. The Mayor said that the case had been reported to him, and had been sent on to the inspector of the society. t Mr Murphy pointed out that the condition of the horse nowirae quitedifferent to what it was when he saw it. It -was, -therefore, necessary that prosecutien .should be taken at once. . Eev. -T. Fisvell said that he had had -occasion recently to caution a baker who -was driving ahowe with sore shoulders. Xhe secretary brought under the notice of the committee the method of shipping -catib into steamers. Mr Weston moved—•• That the secretary tel; instructed to communicate with the -shipping companies on the subject." Mr T. Edwards ■ thought it would be letter if the secretary wait on the shipping companies and interview them. Mr Weston said that was his idea. The resolution was put and carried.
