FINAL ISSUE OF SHARES.
IN pursuance of the polioy initiated at the date of the enlargement of the company, the Diieotsrs have decided to offer to the public the balance of unallotted shares, numbering 1399, ef £25 each. ... The large increase in the business of the company justifies the Directors in taking thW step, as the whole capital can be profitably employed; and the business is now on such a sound basis that the shares of this company can be looked upon as a perfectly safe investment for shareholders.
The Bisectors have pleasure in drawing attention to the report of the Jurors of the International Exhibition, now being held in Christohurch, Class 8, as follows :—
"••Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company (limited).—Wo have carefully examined the various exhibits of the Kaiapoi Woollen Company, and recommend (a certificate of gold medal) for purity of material and the excellent finish of their tweeds and woollen goods ; a'so, a second award of (a certificate of gold medal) for the superiority of their madcap clothing. We further recommend this firm for the Industrial Prize, Of all the corporations which have ceme under our notice none are better qualified to compete for am award of this character than the organisation at Kaiapoi. They employ oapital amounting te i>112.000; labor at mill, 240; people at the Clothing Factory, 185; total at preseat employed, 425. Additional labor required, 149 hands; very shortly a total of 565 people will be employed. They have purchased for this year's business wool £83,000; coal required, 2600 tons, Malvern ooal only being used. Estimated consump* tion of oil manufactured in New Zealand, 2000 gallons; estimated consumption of soap of colonial manufacture, 40 tons. The motive power at the mill is a6O h.p.. engine, made by Scott Bros., of Chiistohuroh, steam being supplied by five (20 h p.) boilers, made by J. Ander9n, also of this city. Nearly all the shafting and belting in use is also of colonial manufacture. In short, we know of no industry so well calculated to develop the resources of the co'.ony, and we are not aware of any firm whose efforts have commanded greater success."
Tliesnmof ill per share will be payable, on application; £2 Ids per share on allotment; and the balance in calls of not more tban £2 10s per chare, at intervals of not less than three months; or the whole enm of J825 may be paid cp at once. New shares will rank, for dividend, from date of allotment.
Intending shareholders can obtain all necessary information, or an order to view the mills, from the Secretary at the company's offioea.
