Man* close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary altera* oona) as under s—TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20. For Northern ports, per Alhambra, at 11.30 a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.40 a.m. ; guard's van, 12.10 p.m. train. *** . For Otago and Australian colonies, per Arawata, at 1.45 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2 40 p.m. train. For Northern ports, per Waitaki, at 3.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.30 p.m. ; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. Noticb.—On and after Nov. 1,1881, money orders will be issued in New Zealand payable at any town in Germany, and after Ist January next Money Orders will be issued in New Zealand payable in the United States of America. Postage stampß may now be used for stamping receipts under the Stamp Act, 1875, but receipt etampa 'are not accepted in payment of sTotics.— Monday, 26th inst., and Monday, 2nd January, will be kept as Post Office holidays, and the offices will open for one hour only, namely, from 9 to 10 a.m., for sale of stamps and registration and delivery of letters. The chief office will open from 8 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, 24th, and Saturday, 31st instant, for delivery of letters to applicants, as there will be be no delivery by letter carriers on the following Mondays.
