A good demand wrs again experienced at to-day's wool auction. The catalogue comprised 9.1.00 bales. The total quantity withdrawn from sale since the opening is 3000 bales.
As the Tariff Convention is now sitting at Now York, the delegates of twenty-five States havo made speeches in favor of increased protection being afforded through the tariff to local industry. December 2. At a meeting of the Aberdeen delegates of the Scotch Land League to-day, representations, signed by 40,000 farmers, were presented demanding the immediate reform of the land laws.
It is reported on the London Stock Exchange that a four million loan for the colony of Victoria will shortly be placed on the market.
Consols are quoted at 99_- (sic). New Zealand securities are unchanged. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs are without quotable change. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,500,000 quarters. Australian tallow remains at yesterday's quotations. At the wool sales to-day 8800 bales were offered. Prices were firmly maintained.
The body of tho late Earl of Crawford and Balcarrea was stolen to-day from the mausoleum at Aberdeen. The object of tha theft is believed to be to extort a ransom from the relatives of the deceased earl.
A Blue-book has been issued containing papers and letters in reference to Afghan affairs. One of the documents is a communication of the Ameer, Abdul Rahman, to the Viceroy of India, in which he undertakes to do nothing without the consent of England, and expresses his intention of informing the Government of everything that may take place in Afghanistan, whether good or bad.
PARK, December 2. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day a vote to cover the expenses of the Tunisian campaign was passed after slight opposition. In the course of the debate M. Gambetta took occasion to refer to the benefits likely to arise from European control of Egypt, and spoke in favour of the same.

At to-day's sitting of the Reichstag a proposal submitted by Prince Bismarck for the establishment of an Economic Council of the Empire was finally discussed. Tho Chancellor, in a lengthy speech, warmly advocated the adoption of tho proposal, but, after further debate, the same was rejected by the Reichstag by a considerable majority. WASHINGTON, December 1. Tho trial of Guiteau continues. The prisoner was examined by counsel at great length, to-day. In his replies he detailed the impulses which led him to commit the crime.

The Irish National Convention sitting in Chicago has passed a resolution in favor of National Government for Ireland, based on the will of the people. Another resolution has been passed endorsing the no-rent agitation which is being carried on by the tenants in Ireland.
