The B.s. Tui is advertised to leave here to-dsy for Kaikoura and North. Messrs Kinsey, Ward and Co. advertise the Arved for Timaru and Oamaru to leave on Thursday next. __.... . . The Wig Grande, with part cargo or tea from Foo Chow, ia expected here daily from Dun e_in. The Union Steam-hip Company 8 s.s. Roto-insiia-a is advertised to leave here to-day for Southern Ports. Hobart and Melbourne. The s.s. AS__mbra comes here to-day again to load for Wellington, the West Coa.t, Middle Island Ports, Sjdney and Melbourne, and the Wanaka leaves for Northern Ports. The French barque Veteran, Captain Martin, arrived from Dnnedin yesterday, with part cs-go from Manritiua. The Veteran made a good passage of thirty-seven days from Mauritius to Dnnedin, and left Dnnedin on Saturday last, meeting with fair winds up the coast. She wa? berthed at No. 5 jetty on arrival, and will land the remainder of her original cargo
to-day. __. _ , . The Government steamer Hinemoa, Captain P&irchild, arrived at 6.45 p.m. yesterday from Picton with the Canterbury contingent of Volunteers. She will probably return to Wellington to-day. The officers, and indeed every man on board, had a good word to say for the Captain of tbe steamer, his kindness during a somewhat trying voyage, and his untiring watchfulness for their safety and comfort.
