The eteam&r Star of the South passed the Heads yesterday at 11.30 a.m. bound north. The Island Lily got away yesterday evening forAuokland. The Union Steamship. Company's s.e. Hawea, Captain Kennedy, arrived from Macukau via Coastal Ports at 4.25 a.m. on Saturday, and left at night for Wellington. The ship Corby will be cleared to-day for the United Kingdom by Messrs Boyse, Steady and Co. and Meesrs P. Cunningham and Co. with a cargo of grain. The schooner Clyde, timber laden, and bound to Kaiapoi, returned to port yesterday, after an cE3ncca6Bful attempt to get into the river, the sea on the bar at the entrance to Kaiapoi being too rough. The steamer Jane Douglas arrived on Saturday night from Kaikonra and Wellington. The heavy southerly sea at Kaikonra prevented the vessel from communicating with the shore, and a number of anxious would-be passengers were in consequence disappointed. The Jane Douglas is advertised to leave on the return -trip this srening. The 8.8. Grafton arrived yesterday at 3.50 p.m. from Westport and Wellington. Since her last visit to this port the steamer has been overhauled throughout, her passenger aocommotion, both cabin and steerage enlarged, and in several respects improved, and the vessel generally renovated. She is advertised by Messrs Cnnnisgham aad Co. to leave to-day for Timarn and Oamarn,_and for Greymouth on Thursday sext. The vessels at the Wharves last evening were —Ay No. 1: Bemiogton, Oxford, Merope, Lurline, Aberayte. No. 2: Jane Douglas (s). No. 3: Hinemoa (c), Cabana, Craigard, Elizabetfai Curie. stream: Clyde, Palaoc Mr Moloney, who it will be remembered was second officer on the ill-fated steamer Tararua at the time of her wreck, and who has since been serving in a similar capacity on the Hawea, was removed on her last trip to ibis port, Mr Kemp, of the Tβ Anau, taking ilia place.
