Stewards — Messrs Moorhouse, Greenwood, Foster, Harper, Fendall, Major Ensor, McNanghfc, Benn, Dopglas, Coleman, Innes, Browne, Lewton; judge, Mr Courage; starter, Mr King j bandicapper, Mr Lance ; clerk of the coarse, Mr Long; clerk of the scales, Mr McDonald; hon. treasurer, Mr Williams; hon. sec, Mr Ferrar. The unfavorable state of the weather on Anniversary Day rendored a postponement of these races necessary. They came off, however, on Wednesday, under favorable ciroumBtanoes. The course was, as might be expected, somewhat heavy, and as a consequence the pace was not fast, but a pleasant day's sport was nevertheless enjoyed. The stewards and officers of the olub vied with each other in their endeavors to maintain the prestige of the meeting. They deserve great praise for the manner in which they performed their duties. The following is the result of the different events:— Handicap Httedle Kace of 30 soya, added to a sweepstakes of 2 sore for acceptor; nomination, 1 soy. Hawkins' b g Jack, 9st 41b (H. Mnrfit) 3 All the acceptors for this race followed Mr King to the start, and he sent them away about twenty chains away from the first hurdle. Silverstream was the first in front, but reaching the fencing gave way to Bobin Hood and Te Whetu: Cid baulked at the second hurdle, at the half-way Shark came on. the stand Bobin Hood taking his fences in grand style was first, Jack coming past Te Whetu for second. Shark still pressing forward, at the back of the coarse he got into second place, Te Whetu vainly striving to beat Jack. The horses came in Bobin Hood three lengths in advance of Jack, well up to Shark, Te Whetu and Silveretream tailing. Claret and did taking a view of the race. Hack Hubdi/b Back of 10 sots, entrance 1 soy, post entry, catch weights, district horses only, one and a quarter milea, over four flights of hurdles. Hr H. D. Macpherson's b m Kathleen (Paterson) 1 Mr P. Philip's b g Black Doctor (Owner) 2 Mr H. McLean's eh g Barney was scratched. Black Dootor went away with a slight lead for three quarters of a mile, when Kathleen came away winning easily. .Ambebmby Cup, a handicap of SO soys, added to a sweepstakes of 3.*sovs each for acceptors; nomination 2 soys. Distance 2 miles and a furlong. Second horse to receive 10 sots out of the stakes. Mr F. Butler's b g Numa, 7fit 131bs (E. Dfrritt) 1 Mr A. J. Keith's b g Soukar, 7st 101b (W. McConkey) 2 Mr G. Eraser's eh g Longlanda, 9st 51b (Jonee) 3 Mr H. Scott's eh g Supplejack, 7st 51b (J. Parsons) 0 Mason and Vallance's br h Vampire, rated for7st7lb r and H. McLean's chg Doubtful, 6st 121b, were scratched. The quartette was despatched on level terms. Longlahds made a rush for the lead, Numa taking that position before passing the publio, with Supplejack well up. At half, distance the latter had gained on Longlands,: and the three leaders kept dose for some' time, till at one and a half mile Numa went dean. away. Soukar drawing up from the ruok went on to second, Supple-jack fading

away and letting Longlands. in. In this order the horses raced home, Numa ■winning by six lengths from Soukar, Longlands a long third, and Supple-jack quite away. Little Lady and Pippin began the running at a hot pace quietly followed by Magio and Marie to the end of the first quarter. Passing the half-mile Magio went forward, and Marie proceeded to the front, the mare coming to the judge's chair in a canter, Magio a good second. A protest was lodged by Mr But herfordegainst Marie Antoinette on the ground of ownership, it beisg alleged she was leased by Mr Lunn, which protest was, however, not sustained'by evidence and disallowed by the stewards. Noethben Handicap, of 30 soys, added to a eweepttakes of 2 boys fcr acceptors; nomination, 1 soy; distance, one mile and a half. Second horse to cave his stakes. Winner of Amberley Cup to carry 71b

Souiar and Vampire kept company half the ■journey, the former taking inside running. A close race ensued for home, Souiar being landed -winner by two lengths. Post Bace, of 10 save; entrance, lOe ; district ponies only ; not to exe?ed 14 aanda. First horse to receive 5 soys, second 8 Boys, third 2 bots ; catch weights ; once round. Mr Glendinning's eh m Polly 1 Mr J. Bell's gm Fairy... 2 Mr T. McNanght's b g Jacob 3 Mr P. McGrath'schniß.ddy 0 Tai, Puck, Pat, Waipara, Tommy, Paddj, and Borneo, also ran. Pat ran off the course. Folly took the running and held the lead to finish, Jacob, who had a bad start, took second for half mile, then gave way to Fanny, and Biddy, which waa behind to nearly tfce finish, -was brought up with a grand effort to fourth place. A protest was lodged against Polly, which the stewards decided to be half an inch OTer height, bat it was probable on a farther protest the question would be re-considered. .Ladies' Pubsb of 10 sots.; entrance, 2 sots.; welter weights for age. This waee splendid start, and a keen race to all appearances, Doubtful leading for a greater part of the coarse till Marie was allowed to put out hex paces. Huntingdon came up a good third.
