We have nothing of note to record in tbe import markets during the past week, the Eat>ter holidays having interfered with business to a great extent. Trade sales have been effected in sugars and teas during the last two days at current rates. Sugars—From telegram, dated Mauritius, March 31it, we find that there bag been an advance of f nlly 10 to SO cents per 50 kilo, equal to a rise of 8s 4d to 16s 8d per ton. A cyclone has passed over the island doing great damage. The Thurso, which sailed for Lyttelton and Dunedin, must have encountered th s storm, for the telegram states she hod to put back to Mauritius for repairs, having lost a mast and otherwise damaged. Stocks have been lessened considerably by the late fire at Kdwards, Bennett and Co.'a bond; it is staged fully 150 to 200 tons of sugar were destroyed. Thi3, with the fact of a rising market at Mauritius, should have the effect of hardening rates here, especially ■o, a» the Thizr3o'e cargo may turn out damaged, in that case stocks would be barely amply for our requirements before the new sugars came in, say in October. The only business worth/ of note since our last is that done in spirits. Brandy has been in request at 7s 3d to 9s 3d for Bisquit de Bouche's, Clouzeau and Decnis's, and Monnies' make; Hennessy's nominal; j Schnapps', Old Torn, and Genera hare found buyers at satisfactory rates. There has been a meeting of creditors during the week of J. L. Fleming, builder, contractor. &c., when it was shown that the estate could realise 15s in the Jβ. We hare not heard whether the creditors intend taking this, as there is to be an adjourned meeting shortiyto decide the matter The Stad Haarlem arrived from London on 15th instant with part cargo for this port. The ships Ortfaes and Maraval have sailed for London with full cargoes of wheat and small lot of wool. There are now nine ships and one steamer (Stad Haarlem) on the berth for London, the harbo/ at the present time being overcrowded with shipping.
