Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any ' Telegraph Office by NOON of the same date, provided that written tenders in dne form are lodged at any of the abovenamed offices by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for twenty-one days, and to be in favor of the Chairman of the Wairarapa East County only, and not to bearer or order. THE following Clauses are published for general information: — BETURN OF'SHEEP TO BE FURNISHED ANNUALLY TO INSPECTOR. Clause 21. Every owner of sheep shall, between the first and thirtieth day of June in every year, deliver or cause to be delivered to the Chief Inspector, a written return, in the form 'provided in Schedule A, of the number of sheep and lambs of each sex; exceeding three months old owned,by him on the thirty-first day of May preceding, specifying in such return the ear-marks and brands upon snch sheep. Every person refusing or neglecting, to deliver or cause to be delivered Buch return as aforesaid shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds. The Chief Inspector shall, in the month of July in every year, transmit to the Colonial Treasurer a statement, compiled from the returns furnished in pursuance of this section, of the whole number of sheep and lambs within his district. REMOVAL OF SHEEP FROM ONE DISTRICT TO ANOTHER. Clause 40. It shall hot be lawful for any person to introduce by land any sheep from a clean district into any other district, or from an infected district into an infected district, unless he shall hold a clean certificate for snch sheep, and unless he Bhall have given to the Inspector of the district into which they are to be introduced at least previous notice of his intention so to introduce them, stating in Buch notice the number of such sheep, and the point at which and the day on which it is intended they shall, cross the boundary of the district. Every person offending against the provisions of this section shall be liable to a pen*lty of not less than ten pounds nor exceeding one hundred pounds. NOTICE TO BE GIVRN BEFORE MUSTERING SHEEP. First section of Clause 57. Every occupier of anr run exceeding five hundred acres in extent and not substantially fenced, who shall muster his flock or flocks for either of the purposes of dipping or dressing, or cutting and tailing, or ear-marking, or shearing.or removal from the run, shall, twenty-four hours'at least before yarding the same, give personal notice to the occupiers of all tbe adjoining runs of his intentdoni so to yard his sheep. SHEEP INFECTED WITH LICE. : 68. If any Inspector shall be satisfied that any sheep in a district are infected with lice he shall take such steps in the matter as to him shall seem best for the cleansing'of such sheep, for which purpose he'shall, and may, if the sheepowner neglects to cleanse his sheep, exercise all the powers granted to him by this Act, as if the said sheep were infected with scab, and shall : have power to declare them infected sheep; and all sheepowners and other persons shall, if the Inspector shall have declared ■ . the sheep: .to be infected sheep, be liable, in respect;of. sheep 'infected with lice, in ; tha same manner as if such sheep were infected with scab. WHEREAS a majority of the ratepayers of that portion of the South Rakaia Road District described hereinnnder have, pursuant to ( the seventh section of the Ordinance of the Province of Canterbury intituled " The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872," petitioned His Excellency the Governor that such portion should be severed from the aforesaid district, and formed into a separate road district: And whereas the County Council of the Ashburton County have, by resolution, pursuant to the second Section of "The Canterbury Roads Ordinance Amendment Act, 1877," recommended the prayer of the said petition: Now, therefore I, George Augustus Constantino, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in mc by the said Ordinance and Act, and by " The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," do hereby proclaim and declare that the portion of the aforesaid South Rakaia Road District described hereunder is severed from the aforesaid district, and is hereby constituted a separate district under the said Ordinance by the name of "Ihe Mount Hutt District," and I do hereby appoint the twenty-ninth-day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sflventy-nipe, for the first election of members of the said district. SCHEDULE. Commencing at a point on the south-west side of tbe River Rakaia, the same being in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 7305; thence north-westerly, following up the said river to its confluence .with Cascade Glen; thence Bouth-westerty, following up Cascade Glen, the western branch thereof, and the south-eastern boundary of Run 460, Class 3, to- the north branch of the Biver Ashbnrton; thence southeasterly, following down the said river to the south-west corner of.
