Souse's eh m Colima, 4 years, 6it 91b ... 3 Burwood, Auckland, The Dean, and Secundus broke away, and the two first named ran about a quarter mile, before they could be stopped. Woolstone got a trifle the beet ef the start, Woodlands, Oolima, and Burwood showing most prominently. At soon as they got fairly on their legs Burwood took up the running, and led up to the favourite at the turn, end the pair entered the straight together, Oolima in the centre lying third," with Auckland and Melbourne on the left. Burwood led Hubert by two lengths past the stand, Colima, Woodlands, and Andover heading the closely packed ruck, the last of which was The Dean. When rounding the gate turn, Auckland ran Melbourne out, and the son of Panic lost tuoh a lot of ground that when passing Outte'i, he was absolutely last, and apparently out of it, making desperate running. Burwood led Hubert by a length past Cutts'e, Colima third, a length and a-half away, with Emily at her quarter, and after them could be seen Woodlands, and even Woolstone and Secundus. When fairly at the back of the course, Burwood drew away, while Auckland held out signal* of distress. Melbourne having got rid of him at last, began to work hie way through the horses. Hubert made - gallant efforts after topping the hill, and when half a mile from home reached Burwood's girths, but the- favorite drew away at a terrible. pace, and lad into the straight by three lengths,, Hubert, Colima, Woodlands, and Andover following in a cluster, while Melbourne on the extreme left put in a dangerous claim, and Secundus, North Star, and Emily were also well up. Once fairly between the rails, Burwodd won by ten' lengths. Hubert melted away in the rnn home, and Melbourne, finishing only as a race horse could, caught Colima in the last two strides, and beat her by a head on the post. Hubert was fourth with his head on the mare's quarter. After them on fair terms succeeded Woodlands, Emily, Secundus, The Dean, Andover; Star, North, Waolstone, Auckland, Crusader, and Black Eagle.
