Government Notices. MOUNT BOMERS ROAD DISTRICT DIVIDED INTO FIVE SUBDIVISIONS. NOBXANBT, GOVKENOE. (l.s ) A PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS by section nine of the Canter bury Road • Ordinance, 1872, it is enacted that, at any time after the first ordinary annual election or general election, as the case may be, of the Board f r any district, the Superintendent, if he shall have received a petition to that effect from the Board of the said district, or from one-fourth or more of the number of_ persone liable to be rated under this Ordinance in respect of rateable property in the said district may, by proclamation, within three months after the receipt of the same, divide the distrint.into two or more separate subdivisions, by such names as shall by such proclamation be assigned to the same, and in and by such proclamation the boundaries of the subdivisions shall be eet forth Provided that no such division shall be made within three months before the day appointed for holding the annual election of members of the Board in or for such district: And whereas by virtueof the Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875, the powers, duties, end functions by tbe said Ordinance vested in the Superintendent are now vested in the Governor: And whereas on the fifth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, a petition from the Board of the Mount Somers Road District was received by his Excellency the Governor prayiDg that such district should be divided into the five I separate subdivisions described in the schedule hereto: And whereas all things have been done, performed, and happened to authorise the issue i of this proclamation: I Now, therefore I, George Augustus Conetani tine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in mc by the said in part recited Ordinance and Act, do hereby divide the Mount Somers Boad District into the five subdivisions described in the first column of the schedule hereto, and do assign unto such subdivisions the _ respective names set opposite to such subdivisions in the second column of the said schedule, and do declare that the boundaries of such subdivisions shall be those specified in the said first column. "VfOTICEis hereby given that, in terms of a _131 resolution of the House of Bepresenta-' tives, the Government of New Zealand will pay, by way of bonne, the sum of five thousand pounds (.£5000) to any individual or company who efaall first produce not less than five hundred (500) tons of marketable sugar from beet grown and manufactured in the North Island. Also, that a like sum of five thousand pounds (.£5000) will be paid to any individual or company who shall first produce not leas than five hundred (500) tons of marketable sugar from beet grown and manufactured in the Middle Island. Such bonus to be paid upon its being duly certified by the Commissioner of Crown Lands of the district within which the sugar shall have been produced and by the Chairman of the nearest Chamber of Commerce, that the minimnm quantity herein* before mentioned has been so produced, and is of marketable quality : Provided further that snch certificates shall have been-presented at the Colonial Treasury within three years of the date above written.
