WALTON & CO. have received instructions to SELL BY PUBLIC AUCTION, At their Rooms, Hereford street, Chriatchurcn, ON THURSDAY. 26th SEPTEMBER, 1878, At 11 o'clock, All those piece 3of land, being rural sections 2730 and 2731, situated on THE GREAT NORTH ROAD, On the bank of.the river Waipara, about six miles from the present railway terminus, and five miles from the Weka Pass. The rich valley of Omihi is immediately opposite. The new township is called DARNLEY, And the land will be subdivided in convenient sections of about ONE-QUARTKR ACRE EACH, With reserves for school, church, &c. The direct line of the Amberley and Brnnnerton Extension railway is through the township, as settled by the last survey, but whether the route taken for the Railway be via Weka Pass or Omihi Valley, this Township is right on the line, and which ever route is adopted for the Main Tronk line the other is certam to have a branch, the junction being _at or close to Darnley. It must therefore without doubt become an inland town of great importance. At this site the late Provincial Government determined to erect the bridge over the Waipara. The traffic of the whole northern district, the Amnri, &c, &c , will centre here, and the first purchasers of these sections will certainly reap a great profit.
