STOKE.
The householders having failed to elect a new committee on Jannary 28th,. a meeting was called on February 18th, when Mr Anderson was voted to the chair. The proceedings commenced by reading the clause of the new Education Ordinance and the last annual meeting, which were confirmed. The retiring chairman then read tbe report and balance-SBeefc which stated the receipts to be as follows fromlast audit, £36 16s 4d -salaries, £10613s Sd; incidental, £25 0s 6d; expenditure, £136 I7s ; incidentals, £34 lis Sd; leaving a balance of £3 18s 3d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. After a few comments about the late master taking all the books from school, thereby causing a great inconvenience to his successor, Mr Ross, the matter was allowed to stand over till the meeting of com—ittee, to be held at the schoolroom on February 25th. The nomination of a new committee was then proceeded with, and resulted in the election Of Messrs Anderson, Jno. GaUettly, Hugh Catherwood, James Jack Henry ntcCaully, Frederick Mitchell, and Andrew O'Laoughlan. '■'■'",_, —A- co-uroittee meeting was held afterwards, when Mr Wnx. Anderson was elected chairman, and tbe meeting decided to ask two gentlemen to be nominated as members of the Board of Education.
