NOTICES OF MOTION. MONBAY, OOTOBEB 30. I. Mr Hanmer to move— y y; . "That the recommendations of the Fun* committee appointed by the Standing Committee to consider the best method of reviling the standing orders be adopted." ■-:.': "That Standing Order No 5 be altered as follows :—That after the word ' Com* mittee' the following words be inserted—* 'or at his request for any other good and sufficient reason.'"
"That after Standing Order No 25, the following additional Standing Order b« adopted, that is to say—-'ln case where a ballot shall be taken for members of committee, and the number of persons elected shall be leas than the number required as a minimum for the committee, the President may declare the number of votes recorded in each order for the respective members nominated.'"
"That Standing Order No 29 be altered by the addition of the following word*-- ' All, members present at tbe time shall be required to vote/" "That Standing Order No 32 be altered by. the addition of tbe following words— ' The -principle of draft statutes or draft* regulations shall be considered on the second reading.'," . "That Standing Order No 36 be altered as follows—' That after the word "regulation" in the second line the following words be inserted, "shall be passed." '"
v That Standing Order No 40 be altera! by the addition of the following words— 4 unless otherwise ordered,' "
"That Standing Order No 41 be altered as follows— * That the words " Provincial Council of the Province of Canterburj" be struck out, and the words "Legislative Council of the General Assembly" be sobstituted in lien thereof.'" • XX'
"That Standing Order No 42 be.altered by the omission of the words, and figure* following—* (1) Standing Orders; (3) Acifc of Synod; and (4) Trusts.'" '
11. Mr Melliah, to move— "That thin Synod, recognising the desirability of establishing a permanent bOrrewing fond for the future maintenance awl building of churches and parsonages through* out this diocese, steps be taken during trrfa session to devise the best means of carrjing out the above object." 111. Bey Canon Cotterill, to' move— * ' " That leave be given to repeal clauses 5, 6, and 7 of the 4 KegulationB > f<«:lJ»B«» pairs of Parsonages,' and to introduce certain clauses in their place." IV. The Dean, to move—, 1. "That this Synod deems it.incumbers on all its members, both lay and clerical, that, if they are unable to be present at #» opening cf the annual session, they should write a letter tb the President, explaining the reason of their absence."
2. " That this Synod is further of opinion, that if any one of its members should wish. to absent himself, or should be aware of an/ circumstances likely to prevent his atteaff* ance at more than one sitting consecutively* he should ask, either persoaally or through another member, for leave of absence &X such period as he may think necessary.'* »; " That the principles of the foregoing resclntionß be embodied in Standing Orders." V. Bey B. 8. Jackson to move—"Tbat tha Select Committee on the financial system be increased by the addition of the names of Mr Fendall and Bey JP. As Hare."
VI. Rev Canon Cotterill to move— " Tbat the question of Mir Mn'et, and the answer of the manager of the Church Kent* contained in the minutes of the meeting of Synod. October 25tb, 1876, be expunged from tbe minutes."
Mr Malet to move as an amendment--- ■ " That having regard to the fact that tht Synod ordered the recording in the minute* of Mr Malet's question and the anwwar thereto by the manager of the Church $fa*% it is not desirable tbat tbe decision should; be reversed, inasmuch as the entering of Ihe question and answer in the minutes is only a record of fact and implies no endorsement of the Synod of the opinions therein expressed." VII. Bey B. 8. Jackson to move— " That a commission be appoioted to consider, during the recess, the right method of obtaining a properly certified list of Diocesaa statutes, and to report to the Synod at ito next session." ~ . ■■ .
