RANGIORA DISTRICT SCHOOL.
This school closed for the Christmas vacation on Thursday last,*andin the evening the prizes were distributed in the school in the presence of large gathering of parents and friends, by Mr A. H. Cunningham, chairman of the committee. The chairman drew the attention of the parents to the irregular attendance which prevailed in the colony, the absolute necessity of improving this, and to the number of candidates for election in the province, who had expressed themselves in favor of compulsory education, The meet* ing terminated with hearty cheers for the chairman, the committee, and teachers.
