Greymouth, December 24. The nomination for Grey Vallejr took place at soon to-day. There was a large attendances of the public, and great interest taken in the proceedings. Pour gentlemen were proposed, and the show of hands gave Guinness, 61 ; Newton, 49; Kennedy, 41; Woblcock, 23. A poll waa demanded, to take place on the 12th of January. A dose contest is anticipated. Arrived—Wallabi from Wanganui. Dunedih, December 25. Another case of drowning has occurred at Riverton. Four men went to bathe in the river, and one of the number, named Charles Lyon, butcher, was drowned. The body has not been found. He leaves a wife and" four children. Mr Larnach now declares himself an abo.litionist, and...declines to. number, himself., with the Opposition. Mr Burn's election- for Boslyn may be regarded as certain. There is only Mr Grant opposing him. He classes himself "Ss~ doubtful. The League was completely sold, believing till the last moment that he woald support them. ' " Bluff, December 24. The Ringarooma left-Melbourne on the 15th, and passed Sisters Islands next day at 10.30 a. m., arrived at Milford Sound on the 22nd, at 3 p.m., and left same, and entered Dusky Sonnd and Presentation Inlet on the following day. She arrived at the Bin ft at 4 a.m. on the 24th. She experienced northeast winds and fine weather during the passage. She brings 51 passengers for all ports, 20 excursionists for the round trip, and 24 in the steerage. She brings 195 tons of cargo for all ports, and sails for Dunedin at 5 p.m. to-day. She brings no later cable news. Passengers for Lyttelton—Messrs Morgan, j Mitchell, and 3 in the steerage, and 40 tons cargo. '
