Theatre Royal.— capital house, well filled in all parts, greeted Mr Hoskins last evening on the occasion of his benefit, and the performance throughout was most successful. The first piece," A Handsome, Husband," "went splendidly, v As Mrs Wyndham, Miss Florence Colville was excellent, the lively and sparkling language of the. comedy with its bye-play being 'rendered most charmingly by her. Ar Mrs Twisden also Miss Docy Mainwaring was very good, and the same may be said of Miss Lily May's Hon Mrs Welford. The part of Mr Wjndham is just one of those in which Mr Hoskins excels ; lie takes-the audience entirely into his confidence, and relates to them his perplexities and double in erich , a friendly sort of way that their interest is evoked on his behalf, and continues throughout the piece. The part was capitally played, aa was also that of Henry Fitzherbert by' Mr Douglas. The piece which followed, "An M.P. for a Rotten Borough* , was, so thoroughly apropos to-{the of the past few weeks, and the turmoil through which we have passedj that : the various hits were keenly relished by the audience. Mrs Hill made "a very pretty Peggy Ramble, and looked even more bo when. ehe assumed the habiliments exclnjsively the property of the Sterner sex. , Aβ Jerry Chance, Mr Hoskins was exceedingly funny, and in the hustings scene delivered a speech on local and general topics, in which the varioue points dilated upon by the candidates during the late election were hiunorobely and wittily dealt- with, the various points made: eliciting loud plaudits. The other parts were well filled;' For the last piece Mies Oolville read Mr Hoekins a conjugal lesson, strongly reminding one of the late lamented Mrs Catfclle, and- in this both Mies Colville and Mr Hoskins exerted ■ themselves to please with:-'great• succese. Altogether the performance was p very good one throughout. To-niglit ! Mr appear as Paul Pry, the 5 afterpiece - being '.'The Dead Shot." .■-'-"■' '■}'■'• -[ - • Cantebbuby AGBiotJt¥HßAi;' jtNi> T Pastobal Association .-kA i meeting"6iE i the committee of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday afternoon at the secretary's office.
