THE NEWTOWN HOTEL.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PBESS. Sir.—My attention has been drawn to a letter that appeared inyourissueof Thursday last, and signed by Mr Beamish in reply to : a former letter by Mr W. Wilson re the petition" for a licensed house at Newtown. Mr Wilson is not the only one that hsis been deceived by Mr Beamish, as the latter called upon mc with a petition, and distinctly told mc that it was in favor of the license being granted, and upon that under** standing I signed it, upon his bare word, without taking the precaution (which I should have done), to read, the petition for myself, and I have no doubt that I am not the only one in the neighborhood that has had the petition placed before them in a wrong light. lam sorry to trouble you with this letter, but I for onelike to see everything done fair and above board. Apologising for taking up your valuable time. Yours, &c, William A. Goodwin, Montreal street south.
