OXFORD.

Sr Andbew's Dat. The anniversary of St Andrew was observed as a holiday at this township. The weather was delightfully pleasant, favoring the attendance at divine service held in the church, the bazaar, social tea meeting, and entertainment. St Andrew's Church, Oxford, was handsomely decorated with wreaths and flowers on this occasion, and there was a fall congregation. Prayers were read by the Rev F. T. Opie, incumbent of the parish, the lessons by the Bey H. Glasson, and 0. J. Merton, a sermon appropriate to the occasion being preached by the Bey H. Glasson. The singing was nicely conducted. The offertory taken will be devoted to the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge. The bazaar was held in the Oddfellows' Hall for the sale of fancy and miscellaneous articles, of which there was a choice selection, and a fair amount of trade was done. The stalls were under the management of the Misses Wolletein and Hamilton. In the evening the tea meeting was held at the drill shed, when over 300 persons sat down. The tables were provided by Mesdames Pearson, Opie, Parish, Wolletein, Comyns, Crowe, Dobrmann, and Hamilton Bros, and the bachelors. This was a most successful portion of the day's proceedings, and was succeed by an entertainment. At the request of the Bey F. T. Opie, Mr B. L. Higgins was voted to the chair. At the first of each part the Missee Higgins played a duett, the second with remarkable vivacity, and receiving an ovation of applause. Mr C. Merton contributed three songs, which were given tastefully. Three glees were rendered by Mrs Opie, Mrs Griffith?, Messrs Merton and Hamilton, a trio by Hamilton Bros; Miss Triggs contributed a piano solo, and Mr Mayor a song which was encored. The proceedings were concluded by the singing of the National Anthem, after unanimous votes of thanks to the ladies, the musical party, and the chairman had been passed. The total receipts for the day amounted to £55.
