This fine vessel was built at Ardros&an, Scotland, expressly for the West India trade, requiring strength and sailing qualities, is now thoroughly well found below and aloft, and received in September last at Melbourne a overhaul, under the supervision of Captain Colin Browne, whose survey certificate is as lollows:— " Having personally daily superintended the repairs, kc, of the barque Jane Spiers, as recommended, I hereby certify that all has been carried out and completed to my satisfaction, aud I have further specially examined the vessel while in dock, I find no evidence of rot or decay at any part, and being well fastened, there is no sign of working or weakness, retaining her original sheer and shape at keel and gunwales; is now tight, staunch, and strong, and in good seagoing order.
