THE AUSTRALIAN FLOUR AND GRAIN MARKET.
Breadstuff's arc very dull, affected as they must be by the general heaviness in trade, and the week closed with a decline of 3d at least on wheat, and 2s Cd on flour. For bakers' lots of flour quotations Stood at £13 10s to £13 12s 6d (bags returned), but the price was irregular, as it was known that some of the millers were selling at less. Parcels were quoted at £12 17s Gd to £13, and at these rates about 16 tons were disposed of at Tuesday's auction sales. On Thursday, however, .'a parcel of an unknown brand was placed at £12 12s 6d, though we hear of no good brands offering under £12 17s 6d. Wheat, in like manner, has suffered a decline, the fall being in one day, and though only 3d per bushel on fine qualities, it is still equal to the reduction of the last two months. Our quotation on the 10th July for fine wheat was 6s 3d, and up till Wednesday last the price ruling for similar qualities was 6s. There is still little offering in tho open market, and the business done through the auction rooms is of very little account. On Wednesday, asinailparcelof medium was placed at 5s 9d. On Thursday, 600 bags were quitted at 5s ad for fine, 5s 6d for medium, and 5s 2d for New Zealand. Uy all accounts from California it is now clear that up to the time of the Tartar's departure there was only one vessel, the Wm Turner, loading breadstuff's for Sydney. The yield of wheat was estimated at 20,000,000 centals (32,000,000 bushels), as against 13,000,000 centals the year before, the increase on one year being- 50 per cent. Feeding grains have improved, and some considerable sales of oats have been made. On Tuesday 800 bushels Tasmanian were quitted at 4s 3d for low to •is lid for good. On Wednesday a small parcel of Californian was placed by auction at 4s lOd; later in the day the larger buyers came forward, and cleared off 12,000 bushels Californian in one line on private terms; 1500 bushels Tasmanian were disposed of at 5s to 58 Id, and a parcel of 1450 bags Tnsmaninn were also taken up. The advance, however, was more marked on Thursday, when 5s 2d was refused for a parcel of fair stout feeding. Maize has rißcn in value, consequent on supplies running short, and the price up till Thursday and Friday rose to 4s lOd and ss, but on the arrival of further shipments this quotation is not likely to be maintained. Bran is quoted at Is ssd, and pollard is saleable at Is 8d to is lOd. Victorian made oatmeal is Bteady. at ,£32.
