AN Election to a Junior Somes Scholar* ship is appointed to take place on TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 1873. This Scholarship is £15 in value, and is tenable for three years at the Grammar School. In case the parents or friends of the successful candidate live more than three miles from the Grammar School, the scholar will be entitled to receive an additional sum of £20 annually, to assist in defraying his expenses while living at a distance from borne. A deduction of twenty per cent, will be made at the end of any half-year in which the scholar shall not have passed a eatisfactoiy examination. : The Scholarship is open to all boys under fourteen yeare of age who have been pupils Iα any Church of England parish, or district school in the Province of Canterbury for six months next previous to the time of examination, and who shall receive a certificate of good-character from the master of the school, countersigned, when practicable, by the clergyman of-the parish or district in which the Bohool is situated; Candidates will be examined in the Church Catechism, Scripture.
