EDUCATIONAL MEETING. \ MEMORIAL having been presented to the Board of Education from a considerable portion of the inhabitants of the Upper Ashburton District, as hereinafter described, praying for the formation of the locality into a separate Education District, I hereby give notice in accordance with the provisions of the Education Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1872, that a PUBLIC MEETING of the Householder- resident in the locality will be held on THURSDAY, the 2nd JANUARY, 1873, in Mr Horace Taylor's Accommodation House, Mount Somers, at 3 p.m. The following are the boundaries of the proposed district—Bounded ontheßouth by the south branch of the River Ashburton ; on the East by a straight line drawn due north from the south branch where the Bowyer's stream joins the said south branch to the north branch of the River Ashburton; on the North by the said north branch of the river and by a straight line drawn from where the north branch of the said river emerges from tho hills to where it meets the source of the south branch of the Baid River Ashburton.
