A novel * and' very interesting event took place yesterday in St Michael's school in the shape 'Of an i exhibition of flowers, fruits, ' and vegetables, .grown by the pupils attendingthe_Bchool.„ We think the idea was a happy one, and the display yesterday gave evidence of the many hours of healthy recreation which must have been spent by a large number of the pupils, in order to produce the varied and excellent collection of flowers, fruit, "and vegetables which were displayed on tfte/tables. The children themselves evidently took a great 5 interest in the day's; proceedings, and. scanned witb much curiosity the exhibits of their rival competitors, the display v of fruit especially suflering somewhat from the desire on "thVpart of the spectators;to quality, pt, the 4"iff ereQfc exhibits. On $he whole the show was a great success. )Ve hope the example set by this schoqVyinU-■•§'s followed elsewhere, as we feel Bure but good can follow such competitions.
