She requires repair, and will probably not leave for San Francisco till the Ist of January. The Welling+on leaves with the mail to-morrow for Wellington direct. Mr Phillips has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. A fire has destroyed the Whan Hotel and an adjoining cottage. It was insured for £700. The New Zealand Insurance Company, at the half-yearly meeting, declared a dividend of 10 per cent., leaving a balance of £8384 to the credit of the current half year. • Arrived—Sero from Sydney with dates to the 12th. "... The Nevada's passengers all signed a letter strongly condemning the vessel, stating that no day has passed without some boiler tube bursting. Accidents to the machinery occurred twice; once the vessel lay in the trough of the sea, Jhelpless as a log, and all hands, including passengers, manned the pumps. DuNEriN, Dec. 19.
