WOOL STILL FIRM. SALMON OVA REINQ SHIPPED FOR DUNEDIN. CHANGE OF MINISTRY IN FRANCE.
Hokitika, Dec. 18, 9 a.m. The Left in the French Assembly demand a dissolution. The Bonapartiet papers in favor of the Monarchical cause announce that they will support a Conservative majority. A new Spanish loan of ten millions is announced. The wool sales closed last night. 62,000 bales have been sold, and 10,000 exported.
At closing sales there was a recovery in prices, except for greasy and Cape sorts. The next series commence on February 13.
At a large meeting of buyers it was unanimously resolved not to bid for wool offered without the draft being stated. A committee of merchants has been appointed to take action in the matter. Dγ Featherston is shipping salmon ova to Dunedin. London, Dec. 7. A meeting has been held at Wolverhampton to bid farewell to the Revs Messrs Selwyn and Hill, the Melanesian missionaries. The P. and O. Company have declared a dividend of 7 per cent. The report is favorable as to the use of Australian coal in the company's steamers, but is silent respecting the mail service. Paris, Dec. 7. A committee of thirty members has been chosen to consider the Government constitutional proposals. It assembled on Monday. M. Thiers expressed his regret at the constitution of the committee, as it renders the partial renewal of the Assembly impossible. He will not modify the Ministry until the report is presented, then if hostile to his views he will oppose it in the Assembly. Dec. 8. The situation at Versailles is less straitened. The President of the committee of thirty, M. Larcy and
the the vice-president, Andriffet had a friendly conversation with M. Thiers yesterday.' - The Berlin papers say that Germany ia indifferent to the internal conflicts in France. Dec. 9. Contrary to expectation Ministerial changes in the French Cabinet have been announced:—Goulard, Minister of the Interior; Leonsay, Finance; Gourton, Public Works." It is believed that these changes will terminate the crisis. New Zealand consolidated fives, 102. Discount, -1 per cent. Dec. 12. The Overland Telegraph Line is interrupted, and the late cable messages have not arrived.
