[N.Z. Associated Press Telegrams.] Hokitika, Dec. 14. The racecourse is so damaged by floods that it will be impossible to hold the races as advertised at Christmas. There have been various heavy slips on the Christchurch road necessitating a large expenditure. Dunedik, Dec. 14. Arrived—Queen of the South from Mauritius, with 100 tons of sugar, for Lyttelton. and 100 tons for Wellington. The Education Board has resolved to discontinue the provincial scholarships for the present. The Eifle Association meeting is the largest yet held. The principal prize yesterday was taken by a country corps. Wellington, Dec. 14. Arrived—Wellington. Sailed—Wellington for North. Dec. 15. Arrived—Jessie Eeadman from London. All well. Auckland, Dec 14. The Chamber of Commerce has protested by memorial, agaiust the expenditure by the Harbor Board of money obtained by loan or from the Government on works in Freeman's and Mechanics' Bays, until more wharf accommodation and dockage is provided.
