High water'at Lyttelton for the month of December, 1872:— Date. - a.m. p.m. 10 *..-. 00.11 ... 00.34 The Claud-Hamilton left Hobson's Bay at 2.30 p.m. on the 28th ; cleared the Heads at 6.15, aid passed Swan Islaud at 6.30 p.m next day. Experienced N.W. and N. winds for the first two days, *"d fi>.W. and S. remainder of the passage. Passed the Solander at 10.30 a.m on the 3rd inst, and reached the Bluff at _.50 p.m; discharged cargo, and sailed at 6".30 p.m onrttre _th, and had fine weather on the East coast, to arrival at Port Chalmeis at 6 a.m on the sth ; left at _ a.m on the Bth, arriving yesterday morning at 00.45 a.m. We are indebted to Mr Hart, purser, for files. The Alhainbra sailed for Wellington last night. • The clipper barque Waratah, Captain Fisher, arrived in harbor yesterday irom Launceston, after a passage of eleven days. She brings a cargo of timber, and also horses: - The barque; John Knox, Captain Jenkins, hence to Sydney, arrived at that port on November VQ, -after a splendid run of eight days from Lyttelton. The barque Velocidade, hence to Auckland, arrived at that port on Saturday last, ail well. A telegram was received yesterday (NoTember 2/) fi.om Banjoewangi, reporting the arrival there of Captain Bishop aud a portion at the crew vt the" Guiding &tar, which had 3-eeu -destroyed by fire while on her passage irom Ma jritins to by duey. The message was very meagre, but lull particulars will doubtless, come to haud iv a day or two. The Guiding Star was a barque of 450 tons, owned oy Messrs Merrimau and F_,irclougb, *©-this city, aud was thoroughly overhauled 8 few mObt'Pß «iu<w. Nhf iw insured iv the Byduey Marine Uihce for -£3000, one-half being re-insured. The freight is also covered in'tha same office for £1800, £300 of which is also re-insured. The cargo was consigned to Messrs J. Fraser and Co., ou which there _B an. open policy for £15,000 in the Australian General, National and Mercantile, and - Universal. —" Sydney Morning Herald, November 23.
