Eeefton, Sept. 11. The lock-np is crowded with prisoners.' There is only one cell 6 x 14, and they are all huddled together. A gaol was promised eight months ago, but is not commenced. There are only two police to guard and do duty in the whole town. The following are the prisoners:—Three for larceny, two on suspicion of wilful murder, two for shooting with intent, three for drunkenness, three debtors; warrants arc out for three others.
