Mails close at the Chief Post-office for the following places,.as under:— .-For London direct, per the ship Wild Duck, on Wednesday, September 11, at 9.45. a.m. Letters for this opportunity must be specially so addressed. For the Northern Provinces of New Zealand, per the s.s. Wellington, on or about Thursday, September 12th, at 2 p.m. For Dunedin and intermediate ports, per the 8.8. Beautiful Star, on or about Friday, September 13, at 9.45 a.m. ■ Ifor Dunedin direct, per the s.s. Taranaki, on or about Saturday, September, 14th, at 7.30 p.m. ■y , i 'The office at Spreydon being closed, letters will be retained at the Christchurch Post office till called for. r On and after the 4th instant, the mails for Lyttelton will close at 8 a.m. and 2.45 p.m., arriving at Christchurch at 9.55 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. Mails for Flaxton will close at 7 a.tn., .Wednesday and Saturday, in place of once daily as heretofore. The second mail for Kaiapoi will close at Christchurch at 11.45 a.m. daily, in place of 1.15 p.m. as formerly; and the morning mail from Kaiapoi will arrive at Christchurch 10.35 a.m. North road mails will arrive at Christchurch at 3.20 p.m., in place of 3.45 p.m. daily; ni Maiia for TCempleton, Rolleston, Burnham, and Selwyn will close at 11-30 a.m. daily, in place of II a.m.; and the mail for Killinchy at 3.50 p.m., on Wednesday and Saturday.
