IN RE-,A SOLICITOR.
TO THE EDITOR OF IHE PRESS. Sir —With reference to Mr Geo. K. Hart's ■ letter in auswer to miue respecting the non- ■ i publication of that part of the evidence in i which certain misconduct of Sir M. Hart was I brought before the court, I have merely to i say that the statements of his letter fire im- ■ true. The evidence was not omitted at my r express solicitation. It relates exclusively to - the misconduct of Mr M. Hart, and I leave i the public to judge who was therefore most 3 interested in its non-publication. i I may add that on Saturday last I sought 1 Mr George Hart for the express purpose of showing him my letter, and asking him 1 whether it was correct. I met him iv Cash el street, and showed him the letter. He said it was quite correct, except that "you are mis- ; taken in thinking Duncan and Jameson's s letter was published as part of the evidence."
d I said "it reads so." He said "if you will leave c j your let tor wxh mc I will set "it published ; c i but I will add a foot notestating that the d j letter was not published as part of the eviy ! denee." I accordingly left the irtter wit!. r him. At the tir.i-- I met Mr Hart 1 was tnlkr ' ing to Xi- J. L. Wilson, who no doubt \\\\\ s ; remember mv leaving him to talk to Mr ,v Hart. I I am, &0... c W. 11.I 1 . Cowi.isH.vw.
