The Provincial Government have sold the Wanganui bridge to the Wauganui Corporation for £20,000.

It is understood that the dispute between the Government and Mr Brogden respecting the general conditions of the contracts is settled. The judges of the Supreme Court are to be the arbiters in the matters in dispute. The working plans of the following lines have been placed in the hands of Mr Brogden :—Picton and Blenheim ; Mataura and Invercargil] ; Napier and Pakipaki line. The Wellington and Upper Hutt line is to be handed over when Mr Brogden arrives at Wellington. The plans of the Dunedin and Clutha line are completed, but a delay has occurred in handing them over, in consequence of the absence of Mr Blair, Mr

Brogden's engineer.

The Greymouth and Brunner line surveys are to be ready in a few days. The working plans of the Auckland and Mercer line have been handed over to Mr Brogden.

The Government will dispatch the Albion or the Tararua with the outward mails to catch the Suez mail, leaving Melbourne on the 26th.

It ie understood that there is a probability of the City of Melbourne, on her arrival at Auckland, being dispatched to Honolulu.

The Tuapeka and Beaumont Water-race Company has applied to the General Government for aid to the extent of £2000. The application will probably be granted.
