Plaintiff's itatementr was; * that defendant, who .was a threshing machine, agreed to -him a small quantity of wheat at 6d per bushel. He took it to the machine, but it had been left unthreshed ; it was taken to another farm to which the machine had

Saltwater Creek, which the Bench remarked was as well reported on as usual. Wine and Beer.— J. M. Simson, North road dining rooms, Kaiapoi, granted. Conditional.—The licenses of Tyson Hodgson, Ashley ; and Hastie and DroD, Hurunui, -were granted. W. M. Cox applied for a license of this description, as he would be induced to make stockyard accommodation, which was not available at present at the Weka pass to persons travelling with stock. The Bench refused such a license on these terms, and he was granted one for a country hotel.

Adjourned.—The application of John Lea, Moeraki downs, for a country hotel license, owing to the want of repairs to the house, which applicant said would be put in progress by Mr Blackett as soon as the present tenant, Mr Land, would leave, was adjourned. The application of John X,ee, Oxford, for a similar license, was adjourned, to allow of repairs being made to the house: such as painting, papering, and rebuilding chimneys. A contract bad been taken for the work, and the landlord, Mr J. S. White, intended making considerable improvements. Both places are to be reported on by the police at the adjourned meeting.

Special Constables—Tyson Hodgson and J. Dron, and at the desire of the Bench, D. Cameron and J. Messent, also agreed to bt, sworn in as special constables.

Transfer of License—The Bench unanimously granted a transfer of the license of the Dike of Edinburgh to Mr G. M. Warne.

Befusal of Licenses —The Bench refused the. granting of a license to Mrs Mary Dougall, for the Saxon hotel, as the police had reported most unfavorably. An application from Mr Hall, for a conditional license, was deferred for a fortnight.
