ROAD BOARDS.

* MANDEVILLE AND BANGIOBA. The usual meeting of this Board was held at the Board office, Rangiora, on Friday, May 3. All the members were present. The minutes of last meeting, and the Surveyor's report, were read. A letter from the Provincial Treasurer was read, enclosing a cheque for the cost of culverts on Boy's direct road. Messrs Chapman, Evans, Abbott, and Egan waited on the Board relative to the overflow of the Cusfc on to their lands. It was resolved to vote them £5 towards deepening a part of the riverbed, the work to be done to the satisfaction of the Surveyor. Mr Ejran complainc-d that Mr K. Evans had made the bed of the Cust wider near his laud, causing it to flood his (Egan's) section. Mr Evans applied for permission to make a drain by the side of the road near his section. The matter was ultimately referred to the Surveyor to decide respecting it. Mr G. Bowror. asked the Rp.arU to undertake the shingling 1 of a portion of the Mount Thomas road. Ho was recommended to try to get the residents to contribute towards the work, then the Board would give the matter their consideration. Mr E. Mulcock, Flaxton, waited on. Board, in reference to the oversow of the main drain. The Board decided to vote £o in aid, for the overflow to be prevented temporarily. It was resolved that a deputation, consisting of Messrs BJackett, Duncan, and Young, seek an interview with the Provincial Government, relative to the drainage of the swamp.

The rate list, as ordered to be prepared, was laid upou the table. It was approved of and sigued by the Board, the rate therein described being ordered to be levied in a fortnight. The Clerk was instructed to give notice to Mr Davis to put the roads in his charge into repair at once. It was also decided that notice should be given that the bridge over the Rangiora branch drain must be raised or removed. After passing the accounts the meeting separated.
