We take the following additional mail telegrams from the Argus : — All the Washington correspondents of the American press concur in regarding the tone of America's reply as eminently pacific. The New York World says that the American interpretation of the treaty has completely broken down. The jury stopped the Tichborne trial on the sth. At the request of Sergeant Ballantyne, the Court was adjourned for one day, when a nonsuit was accepted, after consultation with Mr Giffard. Chief Justice Bovill ordered tbe plaintiff to be taken into custody for perjury, and detained in Newgate till the next session of the Criminal Court, unless bail to the amount of £5000 were offered. The Government has undertaken the prosecution. The prisoner was unbailed up to the 10th. The magistrates of the Southwark Police Court commenced, on the 6th, an investigation of an extraordinary libel case, affecting tbe moral character of Lady Travers Twiss Before her marriage. Mr Monsell,' replying in the House of Commons to Sir J. Pakington, said that the Indian Government was likely to accept a proposal to extend the money-order system to India. The Prince and Princess of Wales went to the Continent on the 9th. Mr Gladstone has detailed to the House of Commons the arrangements for the education of King Theodore's son at Cheltenham. March 7. The Prince of Wales has visited the Assembly at Versailles. Mazzini is dead. March 13. It is feared that disturbances will break out in Spain in consequence of a coalition between the Radicals and Carlists against the Government. The Erie Railway ring has been broken up. The Queen visits Germany on the 20th. The Travers Twiss case has collapsed. Tbe Conservatives bave elected Mr Willingford for East Gloucestershire. The consideration of Sir C.
