ROAD BOARDS.
SPRINGS,
The annnal meeting of the electors in the Springs Road Board District to elect three new members in place of Messrs Goodwin, F. Lawry, and P. Gammack, who retired by rotation, took place at the office, Springston, on Tuesday. Two of those retiring, Messrs Goodwin and F. Lawry, offered themselves for re-election, and there were two new candidates Messrs P. Wright of Springston. and Mr W. B. Andrews of Greenpark. Mr J. Gammack refused to stand. There was a considerable amount of excitement amongst the ratepayers, and the result was that Messrs F. Wright, Goodwin, and F. Lawry, were declared duly elected. The following is the result of the poll:— J , . Wright ... ... ... 87 W. Goodwin ... ... 84 W. Lawry ... ... ... 47 W.B.Andrews ... ... 37 The new Board, Messrs Murray, Bourne, Goodwin, F. Wright, and E. Lawry, held their first meeting after the election, and Mr W. Goodwin was appointed chairman, and other business transacted.
