W. Boag.) Class 1. Plough of any make. Two entries, let prize, Mr Watson. Class 2. Donble-farrow Plough. Two entries. 2nd prize, A. Webster.

Class 3, Set of Harrows. Three entries. Ist prize, Light Harrows, Mr Dura.nt. Class 4. Farm Cart. Two entries. Ist prize, C. F. Barker, maker, Duncan, Christchurch ; 2nd, G. Johnson, maker, Johnson. Class 5. Dray. Three entries. Ist prize, dray and hay frame, Mr Petrie; 2nd, G. Johnson; highly commended, Mr Donoghue. Class 7. Reaping Machines. Four entries. Ist prize (Anderson, maker), J. Anderson ; 2nd (Webster, maker), Webster; highly commended (Webster, maker), Watson. There were only two exhibits of ploughs, one .in each class, Mr Blyth's exhibits arriving too late to compete. Mr Blyth's

two ploughs were of excellent make, as also was that shown by Mr Watson, a single furrow plough with "two wheels. There was only one exhibit of harrows, the prize being taken by Mr Durrant. The only noticeable machine amongst the reapers was a Samuelson's improved patent (imported), exhibited by the Rev. W. J. G. Bluett. The principal novelty in this consisted of a circular shaft coming out from the centre pole, which lessens the draught and

makes the machine run far easier for the

horses. It certainly deserved commendation. Quite a number of drays were exhibited of various descriptions. In Class 4, farm cart,

one exhibited by Mr C. F. Barker, manufactured by Duncan. Christchurch, was a very strongly built compact cart, combining strength with lightness. Mr Johnson also exhibited two very good carts, as also did Mr Petrie.
