"Westport, Sept. 27. The steamer Charles Edward, from Wauganui, was towed into the Buller last night disabled by a serious injury to her engines. Her cargo and passengers were forwarded south by the Lyttelton. Port Chalmers, Sept 27. Arrived —At noon, Crest of the Wave, schooner, from the Pelorus Sound. Sailed —4 p.m., Phoebe for the Bluff. The Maori sails at ten to-night for Lyttelton via intermediate ports. Wellington, Sept. 27. The Governor left for Auckland per the Luna to-day. The G-overnment intend to get over the gold duty difficulty by issuing a proclamation under the G-oldfields Act, prohibiting the exportation of gold from Ist October to 31st December, except by the special permission of the Customs authorities, which will not be given except on the payment of the duty. Sailed —12.15 p.m., Luna for Manakau. Napier, Sept. 27. A large number of the West Taupo , lake Hauhaus, who escaped at the time of the fighting at Taupo, have been brought in by Pohipi and are anxious to be employed on road work. They are without clothes, and are j starving. They will be employed. The treaty for the purchase of the. Seventy Mile Beach is progressing favorably. The Keera has arrived from Auck-1 land. The Comerang and also the Keera, sails at eight o'clock this evening for Auckland. I
