Great great grand Sire—Old Marshland Shales—the champion of all trotters. Shales is a rioh bay, with black points, five years old, stands sixteen hands high, with great substance, sure foal-getter; splendid temper and constitution; and inherits the blood-like qualities of his ancestors, with first* rate trotting action. The Colts got by the grand old Fring howo i are unequalled by the stock of any other horse in the United Kingdom—in proof of which, one dealer alone, in the County of Norfolk, purchased (for the London &*"■*s over one hundred of them, averaging »lw each.
