CUBA.
Havana, Jan. 2. Intense excitement prevails here in consequence of announcements in the Havana journals, this evening, that the revolution has terminated. According to the published statements, the editors of the journals have seen a copy of a circular signed by the members of the Cuban Junta in New York, ordering the insurgents to lay down their arms for the present, arid giving as reasons for the abandonment of the insurrection, the failure of the recent filibustering expeditions, the inability of the Junta to send more men, and the disheartening action of the American Government in permitting the gunboats to sail from New York. The circular severely attacks the course of President Grant. The Junta advises the Cubans to submit to the Spaniards in order to save further bloodshed. The " Voz de Cub," a sensation journal, announces the surrender of 1500 insurgents at Tumas. The " Diario" announces that ex-rebel Cocoa offers to raise a body of guerrillas to fight against the insurgents. One Spanish gunboat arrived to-day, having become separated from her companions off the Heights at Charleston ; the rest are expected to arrive to-morrow. Further announcements are made from the interior that the insurgents are offering to . capitulate. If all the news is true, the revolution may be considered as expiring; but confirmation is wanting. St. Louis, January 2. On Christmas evening, Joseph H. Heldhampf, a well-known German citizen, was paralysed, and has since been pronounced dead by physicians. The body shows no signs of decomposition, and the family refuse to have it buried. Yesterday, a man and woman, singularly attired, visited the corpse, I announcing they would work a miracle by raising the dead. They proceeded to make various manifestations, and handled the body quite roughly, when a relative of the deceased gave the miracle-workers a severe beatiDfir.
